Winemaker for Boutique Oregon Winery

WineTalent is working with our confidential client on a Winemaker position in Oregon’s Willamette Valley.

About the Company:  Our client is a well-respected winery creating elegant and terroir driven wines that represent the best of Oregon.  The portfolio of wines is diverse and showcases many different varietals and winemaking techniques.

About the Position:  The Winemaker will be responsible for leading wine production while creating a collaborative team environment.  This position is responsible for sourcing fruit from premiere vineyards throughout the Willamette Valley, Southern Oregon and other Oregon AVAs.  With a discerning palate, the Winemaker will be crafting wines that showcase Oregon’s terroir while also bringing a spirit of creativity and innovation to winemaking.  The Winemaker will be handling production budgets, capital improvement projects and strategic planning.  The Winemaker will actively market the wines locally and nationally.  This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to “make their mark” in the Oregon wine industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish winemaking processes and procedures to ensure wine quality and style objectives are met. Direct all regular winemaking activity including picking decisions, fermentation parameters, timing and parameters of pressing, barrel selection, maintenance of stored wines, through to bottling.
  • Work with management to ensure compliance with regulations related to all winemaking activities, including label claims, blending allowances, safe and appropriate levels of additives and maintenance of records as required by law for the facility.
  • Direct annual purchase of harvest related materials per winemaking procedures and crush plan for the ultra-premium facility.
  • Facilitate collaboration between cellar, lab and clients to ensure all departments are working cohesively within the facility.
  • Helps drive effective communication among production staff and with all other departments and managers.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, and management of all production employees.
  • Participate in community events and activities representing the company, ensuring a positive image among the various wine industry and community contacts.
  • Actively participate in sales and marketing efforts necessary to promote and educate salespeople, distributors and the public.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Viticulture and Enology, Food Science, Fermentation, Chemistry or related field.
  • 15 years of industry winemaking experience.
  • Proven track record of wine accolades and experience expressing terroir.
  • Creative and innovative winemaking practices.

Compensation and Benefits:
